You Don’t Want To Be Called Bridezilla

No woman wants to be known as bridezilla. Just hearing the word conjures up images of a monster with a bouquet, veil and wedding dress. Your wedding is the one day when you want to look like a princess, so this makes it even worse to be tagged with such a dreadful name. If you want to keep your cool on your wedding day, and avoid the epithet, here are some tips that may help.

A Wedding is a Party

Although the service itself is a traditional ceremony imbued with symbolism, tradition and meaning, the reception itself is just one big party. And parties should be fun. This party may have taken thousands of dollars and months of work, but when the time comes for the party to begin, you won’t be able to control what happens next. You have to stand back, and trust that the pros will do their jobs.

So when the vanilla cake that you ordered turns out to be chocolate when you take the first slice, just take a deep breath because things happen. In many cases, the more work that you’ve put into preparing the reception, the more things there are that can possibly go wrong. But having the wrong cake is no excuse to throw it at anyone or leave your reception in a huff. Although you don’t have the right cake, no one but you will even know the difference. A cake is not going to ruin your life. So take a slice, or even two and enjoy it.

Perfection is a Myth

Now we can move on to the idea of perfection. Every bride talks about weddings as being he perfect day. But that’s a lot of pressure to put on any human being, especially a bride. It’s important to remember that although perfection is a goal, it’s rarely attainable. You can approach perfection by planning ahead and keeping track of the details. But once your wedding day arrives, you need to simply take a deep breath, smile, and walk down the aisle.

Remember to Smile

Think about the last time you had a job interview. You were nervous and dizzy, and felt like you were going to faint. You needed to be careful of everything you said and did, finding a way to explain why you were leaving your last job without actually saying a bad word about anyone. These are the skills that you will need to use during your reception when your mother-in-law criticizes your hair or the best man starts telling raunchy stories over the microphone. No matter what happens, stay calm. If you lose your cool, you’ll be labeled a bridezilla forever.
